Please join us for this third and final in-person episode of our climate series, Getting ahead on your road to net zero, hosted by Jamie Delargy on Wednesday 13th September at the stunning Larchfield Estate, Bailliesmills Road, Lisburn.

Episode Three, 'Taking Action, Telling Your Story' will feature two presentation and panel sessions; the first showcasing two local businesses who have started on their climate journey and will discuss the challenges and opportunities they've faced. The second session will feature subject matter experts who will discuss how to tell your climate story in a transparent and engaging way, adhering to the 'Green Claims Code' and avoiding 'Greenwashing'.

Presentations and Panel Session One

Learning from other organisations who have gone through similar challenges is invaluable. Gavin Mackie (Larchfield Estate) and Tim Monroe (Smiley Monroe) will present on:

  • their climate action journey
  • learnings
  • issues, challenges and how they overcame them
  • opportunities and next steps. 

This will be followed by a panel session Q&A where they will be joined by Emma-louise Kells from BITC NI.  She will discuss the Climate Action Programme, how to get onto it and the programmes, training, consultancy and advice that are available for NI businesses. 

How To Tell Your Story

Presentations and Panel Session Two 

Telling your climate action story with confidence and authenticity can be challenging, our three subject matter experts; Cecilia Parker Aranha (Competition & Markets Authority) and Danielle McCormick, (All Ireland Sustainability) will present on:

  • how businesses can tell their climate action story in a confident, transparent, engaging, and positive way
  • how to get your climate action message across to a diverse audience of employees, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • avoiding greenwashing and greenhushing
  • explain the Green Claims Code
  • highlight where to go for further help and support. 

Followed by a panel discussion and Q&A where they will be joined by Catherine Duggan, Head of Sustainability, Grant Thornton
